One Tribute for “Yvonne (Austin) White

As her brother, I guess I had better say something. We were 3 1/3 years apart (4 in school) growing up, so you can imagine how that went with an older sister; much as usual. It wasn’t all bad though. One time we were visiting relatives, staying at their house. I think Yvonne and I slept in the living room. We stayed up half the night just talking in the dark. I’ll always remember that. However, in later years, and especially about the last 5 years, we became really good, close friends. We shared many, many conversations about every subject under the sun, including many controversial subjects. Neither of us had made a habit of expressing much affection towards each other; we just weren’t like that. But it was only a few weeks ago while we were chatting, I felt prompted to tell her, ‘You know, if you were to go first, I would really, REALLY miss you, much more so than when our parents passed.’ And it’s true. I miss her terribly already. She’s no longer there to bounce our crazy ideas off of. And I have lost a true soul mate. But at the same time, I am glad that she is now finally in the arms of Jesus, and free of her earthly pain, because she had it rough. Rest in peace now, my sister.
