William “Bill” James Norden, age 86, of Rock passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the UP Health System in Marquette.
William was born October 14, 1935 in Escanaba, the son of Albert and Stella (Johnson) Norden. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Shirley Motes on June 22, 1963 in Granite City, Illinois. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at camp playing cards with his family. He was always “taking a ride” and would stop by to give the grandkids a treat, go visit his sister Lois, or just go and check out the area. He loved going for breakfast with his good friend John Vandeville. He was a member of the Rock American Legion Post 559.
William is survived by his sons, Eric (Daina) Norden and David (Bekki Flinn) Norden both of Rock; grandchildren, Alex and Vivian Norden; sisters, Erma Turunen of Wilmont, WI, Lois Curtis of Brampton and Sandy Carlson of Kenosha, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents, his brothers, Ronnie, Clarence “Butch”, Richard “Dick”, Alph, Robert and Lee and his sisters, Doris Johnson and Clarice Ackerman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Memorial services will follow at 1:00 PM. Military Honors will be presented at 2:30 PM in the Rock Cemetery by the Rock American Legion Post 559.
