William C. Anderson, age 64, of Escanaba, passed away Monday morning, January 27, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Bill was born June 23, 1949, in Escanaba, the son of Elmer and Ann (Gehringer) Anderson. He was raised in Escanaba and was a 1968 graduate of Holy Name High School. In March of 1969, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in the Philippines, serving during the Vietnam War. On May 1, 1971, Bill was united in marriage to his loving wife Jane, at St. Patrick Church in Escanaba, and together they resided on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base until Bill

    I enjoyed many conversations with Bill about his love for his family, his counrty ans the United States Air Force. This man was a true HERO!!! When I had the opportunity to share photos of Lackland AFB with him, he shared photos of himself during Viet Nam with some of the dogs he had trained. When the story of Nemo was told, he shared it with such pride & respect for a the Hero that he had the opportunity to meet. Bill, you are going to be missed. You are an AMERICAN HERO!!!     Having served with Bill in the philippines I am very sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. After re-connecting thru a veteran’s website we shared many old and new memories via email. He will be missed
