Willard L. Young, age 90, of Gladstone, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at his home in Gladstone.

Willard was born June 21, 1929, in Gladstone, MI, the son of James G. and Jennie (Anderson) Young. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1947. He was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served from 1951-1953. Willard was united in marriage to Mary A. Burton on June 19, 1954. Mary preceded him in death on January 22, 2016.

In addition to being a member of the Gladstone American Legion, Willard was also a lifelong member of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, and a volunteer firefighter for 21 years.

Willard loved the outdoors and spending time at his camp with his family. He enjoyed his garden, which was admired by all.

3 Sons: Michael (Connie) Young of Gladstone, MI
William “Sid” Young of Gladstone, MI
Lourn (Anita Kohnert) Young of Gladstone, MI
4 Grandchildren: Nicholas, Joshua Young, Kristi Duerson, and Tanya Amann.
8 Great Grandchildren
And several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Family will receive friends Friday, February 14, 2020 from 2:00 until 4:15 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will present Military Honors at 4:15 PM with the UP Honor Guard. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 5:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Willard will be laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery in the Spring. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Young family.

    So sorry to hear of the passing of Willard whom I’ve know for all my life. He’ll be missed in the neighborhood. You all take care and just know he’s with your mom now so he’s at peace.

    My condolences are with you Lourn, Mike & Billy. Your Dad will be sadly missed. My prayers are with all of you & your families.
