Wally J. Seppanen, age 58, of Gladstone, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at U.P. Health Systems Hospital in Marquette.

Wally was born on September 18, 1963, in Escanaba, the son of John and Joan (Hubert) Seppanen. Wally was raised and graduated from Escanaba High School in the class of 1982. Wally later relocated to Gladstone in 1997. Aso in 1997, Wally began working for the now Verso Escanaba Paper Mill, which he worked as a millwright at for almost 25 years. In 2010, Wally was united in marriage to Bobbie Baur, and together they shared a relationship for 25 wonderful years.

Wally enjoyed sports, especially the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and UPIR racing with his son Brad. He also loved spending time with his three grandkids, especially going to their hockey games. Wally and Bobbie enjoyed traveling to warmer areas, especially Mexico, with other family and friends too. Wally loved his dogs, which he fondly called his baby girls, named Harley, Hannah, and Hazel. He will be deeply missed by so many.

Wally is survived by his wife, Bobbie, daughter Holli (Colin) Watford, sons Mike (Carolina) Seppanen, Brandon Crawford, and Brad (Heather) Seppanen, sister Glenda (Terry) Steinmetz, grandchildren Matthew and Austin Seppanen, and Calvin Watford, his baby girls Hannah, Hazel, and Harley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wally is preceded in death by his parents, John and Joan, his parents-in-law Raymond and Sandra Baur, as well as sister-in-law Beckie Rowan.

Wally’s family will receive friends on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services honoring Wally will follow at 1:30 PM with Rev. Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating.

    My sorrows to all. I had the pleasure to work with Wally a few times. We worked well together and was startled and deeply sadden of the news. I will remember his smile and especially his laugh the most. May God give you strength through these somber times keeping his memories deer to you, while he rests in peace.

    i dont have enough words to say how much you meant to me. I will always remember that smile on your face, all our talks, after hours party at your house. You, your mom and dad were special in my life. May you rest in peace, and someday we will meet again. Bobbie made you so happy and my thoughts and prayers go out to her and your family.
