Virginia Pratt

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died February 23, 2012

Gladstone, MI
February 23rd. 2012 was the morning that Virginia Pratt, surrounded by love and peace, made the journey to her Heavenly home. Waiting to meet her there was her mom Lorraine, father Roscoe and her two brothers Harold and Ray. Virginia, together with her then husband, Roger Storch, were hard working farmers and active members of the Riverside Seventh Day Adventist Church on the Dutch Mill Road. She had an enormous love for children, whether they be her own or others in the area. You had only to be with Virginia a few minutes and she was either your second mom or second grandma. She could patch up a skinned knee and send you home feeling all loved and cared for just by the patch and a hug. She loved playing Skip-bo with the kids as well. She was an avid cookbook collector, to go along with her great cooking and loved refrigerator magnets from wherever they came.

Virginia leaves behind, son Arthur Storch and granddaughter Melinda (Jason) Fleming, Daughter Vickey Baird and her three children, Roger (Stacey) Long, Aleeshia (Jason) Hatt and Samantha (Luke Anderson) Baird and daughter Amy (Ed) Anderson and their 2 children, Matthew (Corrina) Anderson and, Ashley (Josh Young) Anderson. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren: Ryan, Julia Gabby, Logan, Sabrina, Susan, Erica, Harley, Alexander, Anthony Xzavier, Kaitlyn and Zachary. Also Virginia leaves one brother, Eugene (Naoma) Pratt and two sister by law, Marilyn (Harold) Pratt and Karen (Ray) Pratt.
Friends will be welcomed from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday February 26, 2012 at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, followed by a celebration of life service with Jim and Jess Nephew officiating. Closing the celebration will be a prayer by Frank Scarcelli, Pastor of the New Horizon Church, 923 Wisconsin Ave. Luncheon will be held at New Horizon after the service. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Pratt family.

I am a cousin and one that Virginia took in and made feel just like one of her kids. I spent time on the farm with her and her kids and enjoyed every minute of it. After we moved from Escanaba, and her family situation changed, our connection was lost unfortunately. I did have the pleasure of seeing her at a few family events and she was just as happy and loving as I fondly remembered her to be. I missed out not having kept in touch. I just today read the obituary in the paper. Please know I will say a prayer for all of her family.

Even though our family just recently met Virginia we fell in love with her. She tried to have a smile every day for us and always would pucker up for our kisses when we came in or left. My mom would sometimes look at us as if to say, why does Virginia get the first kiss. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. She’s in God care and there is no pain. Fly with the butterflies Virginia until we meet again. We send some butterfly kisses to heaven just for you. Thank you for sharing your mom with our family.
