Virginia D. VanAcker, age 85, of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Christian Park Healthcare Center.
Virginia (Ginie) was born February 27, 1929 in Masonville, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn (King) Doneau. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Van Acker on February 27, 1946.
Virginia loved spending time with her family, especially her children and her grandchildren. The family including Virginia’s extended family, aunts, uncles, and cousins spent many Christmases, birthdays, and Sunday dinners together. Virginia was known for her generosity and compassion and instilled in her children the importance of these qualities as well as truth and honesty. Her favorite times were spent at home gardening, canning, or going on picnics while picking blueberries.
Virginia is survived by her son, Joseph Robert “J.R.” Van Acker of Milwaukee, WI, four daughters, June (Bruce) Anderson, Mary J. Van Acker of Seattle, WA, Alice (Keith) Viau of Soo Hill, and Ruth (Robert) Jasmund of Escanaba; six grandchildren, Shawn P. Anderson, Jonathan Viau, Kevin Viau, Jason Jasmund, Cheryl Anderson, and Scott Jasmund; two great grandchildren, Kennedy Ann Jasmund and Chloe Compo as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Helen (Leo) Plimpton, and Josephine (Clarence) Evans; and two brothers, Henry (Betty) Doneau and Julius (Laverne) Doneau.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba.
