Died March 20, 2021

Vickie Lynn Britton, age 61, of Gladstone, passed away March 20, 2021 at U.P. Health Systems Marquette.

Vickie was born September 27, 1959 in West Hollywood, CA, to Arnold and Dorothy (Bovin) Stewart. She graduated from James Madison High School in Milwaukee, WI. Vickie was a cosmetologist by trade. She enjoyed moving around to different cities where she had many opportunities modeling and styling photoshoots for magazines early on in her career. She later moved to Gladstone to be near her mother and work in her salon.

Vickie had a passion for travel and cultures. She always had stories to tell and brought love, joy, and laughter wherever she went. Her laugh will echo in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. She spent much of her time in the Gladstone community volunteering. Vickie also loved children. One of her favorite things was teaching Sunday School. Many holidays you would see her kitchen table full of sugar cookies and all her little cousins and their friends decorating cookies and singing Christmas songs.

Vickie met and married Bill Britton, the love of her life, in December of 2003. Though their time together was cut short due to an on the job accident that took his life in 2007, the love they shared was big, beautiful, and epic. They truly made eachother shine.

She is survived by her niece Sabrina Ganzel and her children Seth and Emily, uncles Carl, John, Calvin, Scott, and Warren Bovin, aunts Ruther Anderson and Elaine Bovin, many cousins, special friends Darryl and LuAnn Lindquist, as well as her and Bill’s loving family the Britton’s.

Vickie was preceded in death by her grandparents Carl and Ruth Bovin, her mother Dorothy, baby brother Tony, adoptive father John Mercy, uncle Francis Bovin, aunt Terry Bovin, and loving husband Bill Britton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family.

Vickie will be laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with friend Darryl Lindquist officiating prayers.
