Vernon Joseph King, Sr., 85, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Escanaba, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in North Ft. Myers.

He was born April 23, 1929 to Joseph and Cecelia King, now deceased.

Vernon graduated from Escanaba High School, Class of 1948, and previously served in the National Guard. He retired after 40 years of service from Chicago Northwestern Railroad, as an Engineer.

Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Doris King; a sister, Madonna LaBrie; six children, Vernon King Jr. (Goldie), Ronald King (Debbie), Thomas King, Susan Brodersen (Dean), Debra King, and Denise Gillette (Perry); nine grandchildren, Jennifer Pepin (Jason), Jeremy Smith, Daniel Vareka, Joseph King, Jeremy Brodersen, Kristine Ford (Riley), Daniel Gillette, Michael Gillette, and Sara Sinko; four great-grandchildren, Osten Roberts, Ellie Pepin, Aiden Ford, and Lorelei Ford; as well as three step-children, David Warner of Spring Grove, PA, John Warner (Renee) of Eustis, FL, and Neal Warner of Lehigh, Acres, FL.

Vernon was preceded in death by a son, Patrick King and two brothers, Ronald King and Gene Beck.
