Tom Gibbs remains Mr. Perkins in our minds and memories. “Where is it? What is it?” Ask Tom, he’ll know. His absence will truly be marked in the village and in our lives.

I believe that I speak for most of the cousins when I say that Uncle Tom was “our favorite” uncle. Always a smile, a twinkle in his eye and lots of stories to tell. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I am 50+ years old and in my life time, living in Perkins, there has anyways been a Bud and Tom. As I mentioned to Bob Vandamme (in Iraq) now there is a hole in our lives that can’t be fixed or replaced. As a believer you feel that Tom is in a better place and his suffering is over and you thank God for that. But it doesn’t change the way you feel about the loss of someone you thought the world of, enjoyed their company and respected their opinion in local and world affairs. Anyone who ever worked with Tom at the Perkins Lions/Legion knew about his dedication, work ethic and commitment to our community. How many times did we say “better change that as Tom will be back from Vegas shortly and he expects us to do it right”. He never disappointed us either, because when he got back he usually had to lay the law down as to how things should be in that hall! To say the least he will be missed by all of us. adieu my friend

The world will not be the same without Tom in it. It was always the life of any party, and just made people feel great. I will surely miss him.

Uncle Tom will be missed by us all. Cousin Rich said it best, – “A light went out in the U.P, a spark of humor, zaniness and downright coolness”. We love you Uncle Tom!

I was so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. While growing up nearly across the street from him , he was always so nice to small girl who ran in and out of his store. I remember calling to his home to find my dad and saying..”Hi this is my Dad is LeeAnn there?” he just laughed and handed over the phone. Such a warm and caring person!
