Sylvia Mae Ray, age 93, of Gladstone, passed away Friday morning, June 19, 2020 at Sunny Shores Assisted Living in Gladstone.

Sylvia was born January 3, 1927, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Bill and Eva (Unhu) Johnson. She graduated high school from Galtry High.

Sylvia was United in marriage to Harry Edward Ray. He preceded her in death January 11, 2009. She was a branch manager with Northern Michigan Bank for many years. She loved going to the casino and playing bingo. She also enjoyed working outdoors. Sylvia liked fishing and had a sweet tooth for cookies and butter pecan ice cream. She especially loved her Grandchildren. Sylvia was the last of 13 children.

Son-In-Law: Mike DeLoughary of Owasso, OK
2 Brother-In-Law’s: Hugh (Rosemary) Ray of Escanaba, MI
Don (Marianne) Ray of Gladstone, MI
5 Grandchildren
3 Great Grandchildren
GodDaughter: Kelyn Ray-Streiber of Ellington, CT
And several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins

In addition to her Parents and Husband, Sylvia is preceded in death by:
Daughter: Cheryl Deloughary
And 13 Siblings

Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 23 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 4:00 PM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. Sylvia will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sunny Shores Adult Foster Care in Gladstone. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Ray Family. The family would like to extend a thank you to Sunny Shores Adult Foster Care. John and Lorie Fukey and special help Fatham Wright for their tremendous care. Also thank you to UPHP Hospice Care.

    Our condolences Kelly, to you and your family. We were so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing.
    We enjoyed our visits with your parents while they were in the Phoenix area and I have fond memories of the gatherings at the farm while we were growing up.

    Sylvia was a special person and will be missed.

    A sad day when I heard the passing of my aunt and godmother. She will always be in my heart and memories. I know that my uncle is asking her “what took you so long.” Together they will be watching over all of us. I LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU.
