Stanley J. Dominick, age 79, of 10964 Hwy US 2, Rapid River died Friday morning September 7, 2007 at home following a brief illness.
Stanley was born May 14, 1928 in Detroit, MI, son of John and Anna (Wiepszanc) Dominick. Stanley was raised in Detroit where he attended school. On June 17, 1950 he was united in marriage to the former Mary Mauhar at the St. Charles Borremeo Church in Rapid River.

In 1944 Stanley enlisted in the US Army and trained at Fort Benning, GA as a paratrooper. He also served in Japan during occupation. He was honorably discharged in 1948 with the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Ribbon.

Stanley worked for the Mead Corporation in Escanaba for 38 1⁄2 years before retiring in 1989. He served as Delta County Commissioner for 16 years. He was also an active member of St. Charles Church where he served on various committees. Stanley also served on school committees and he was a leader for the Ensign 4-H Club. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

    My parents were great friends with Stan and Mary. I can remember many hours visiting back and forth with them, as well as great trips together. Stan was always laughing, and enjoying a drink with my parents. It’s great to think of the two of them together sharing a manhattan again.
