Rapid River, MI
Scott Michael Winkelbauer, age 52, of Rapid River passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
Scott was born June 1, 1962 in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Ted and Ruth Ann (Gosselin) Winkelbauer.
Scott was a master carpenter with a very creative mind. He was one of those guys that would look around the room and if it squeaked or was broken he would fix it. He was currently employed by C.R. Myers as a Carpenter Superintendent. He was one of the hardest working men you would ever come across. He was a problem solver and skilled in every aspect of the business. He was always thinking ahead.
On January 18, 2014 he married Julie Ann Elsing at their property in Rock. Scott was a loving husband, and a wonderful Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He was a very giving man always there to help someone out. He was thoughtful in every way. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or hanging out at camp. He loved to play guitar every morning and night and was an avid Cowboy fan.
We are left with heavy hearts, Scott we miss you and love you.

Scott was a fantastic neighbor of ours for about 8 years when we lived on Montana Avenue. He helped us with so many carpentry projects and was a great person. I can still remember the first time we met him. He was carrying Sid who was only maybe two at the time. Sid was always by her dads side. Scott was a proud dad and a beautiful person. He was a very hard worker who never thought twice about helping someone with a project. Scott you will be missed! Theresa Britton

I was saddened to hear of Scott’s passing. Although we had lost contact over the years, Scott and I were close friends throughout our High School years and I was privileged to have him stand as a member of my wedding party.
A flood of memories have returned. From rebuilding his parents basement, to building camp to joining the Army together and more. Scott was a true friend and will be missed.
My condolences to all of the family and friends. I hope that you can find solace in the many memories that Scott provided us.

I am so very sad to hear of Scott’s passing. He was a good man and I was blessed to have been part of his life for a short time. Although we parted ways, I always just wanted the best for him. I deeply regret that I wasn’t able to be there for the services to celebrate his life with those that cared about him.
You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
