Scott E. Apelgren, age 74, passed away on May 6, 2024, at his home in Rochester, Minnesota, with his loving wife present.
Scott was born on February 23, 1950, in Escanaba, Michigan,the son of Edwin and Marjorie Ann (Wyatt) Apelgren. He was raised in Gladstone, Michigan.
He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1968. Scottattended Bay de Noc Community College, where he received his Associate of Science Degree. He continued his education at Ferris State University College of Pharmacy in Big Rapids,Michigan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. During his time at Ferris State University, Scott co-authored a book titled, Clinical Pharmacy Handbook for Patient Counseling. He continued his education at Purdue University, College of Pharmacy receiving his Master of Science Degree in 1976.
Scott married his high school sweetheart, Diane Maskart, on September 23, 1972, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, Michigan. They eventually made their home in Rochester, Minnesota, where they raised their family and became members of the Pax Christi Catholic Church.
Scott worked at Rochester Methodist Hospital-Mayo Medical Center as a Clinical Pharmacist for 36 years. Scott continued his education achieving Board Certifications in Pharmacotherapy, Oncology, and Clinical Nutrition. He retired in 2014.
Scott enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He also enjoyed running and completed several marathons. Being outdoors in nature was always important to him.
Scott loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Bradley (Stacey) Apelgren and their children,Wyatt, Nolan, and Everleigh; daughter, Danielle Sterling; daughter, Dana (Jeremy) Wright and their children, Taylon and Maelle; two sisters, Cynthia (Stephen) Cowen and Jana (Keith) Aho; brother, Brett (Aelita) Apelgren. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Marjorie Ann Apelgren.
The family of Scott E. Apelgren will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Gladstone, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 pm at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, Michigan, with Father Brandon Yanni officiating. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Scott will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.
