Sandra Marlette McKee

Resided in Escanaba, MI
Died September 2, 2022

Sandra Marlette McKee, age 79, passed away on September 2nd, 2022, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau, WI following a long battle with dementia.

She was born on February 2nd, 1943, in Frederic, WI, to Andrew D. and Ruby M. Anderson of Clam Falls. The youngest of nine children growing up on their family farm, Sandra learned at an early age the values of unwavering love and support of family, compassion for others, a strong work ethic, and self endurance; values she exemplified throughout life.

After graduating from Frederic High School, Sandra entered nursing school and began a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. In July of 1968, she married Dennis L. McKee in Clam Falls. She and Dennis shared their lives for 54 years, raising three children and
living in Lewis, WI, Escanaba, MI, and Marshfield, WI. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba.

Sandra was best known as a cherished and devoted caregiver, in both her family life and her career. She served as a nurse for 43 years, working mainly on hospital medical units, and was most proud of her time as a wound care team leader and instructor. Even in the late stages of dementia, Sandra could often be found standing near the nurses’ station at her care center, keeping a watchful “ charge nurse” eye on the staff and even offering to pick up shifts. In her free time, Sandra loved to spend time with her family, go
camping, play cards and games, travel, read, play the piano, scrapbook, or just be out in nature.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald, Arvid, Douglas, and Roger; sisters Marion Lundquist, Audrey Branstad, and Lois Djock.

Survivors include her husband Dennis, daughters Jennifer McKee and Kelly McKee; son Kyle, sister Norma (Kenneth) Zittleman; sisters-in-law Joan Anderson, Pat Anderson, and Cheryl Anderson; brother-in-law Charles Djock; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Gardenside Crossing at Mount View Care Center within North Central Health Care in Wausau. Their expertise in dementia care, compassion for the wellbeing of residents, and graciousness and support given to family members has been exceptional and will not be forgotten.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, from 11:00AM to12:00PM, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow visitation on Thursday, at 12:00PM, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba, with Pastor Laura Feliciano of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Sandy and I were roommates our senior year at Luther Hospital School of Nursing. She was the best roommate ever. Her laugh was uplifting. I am so sorry that I did not make more effort to keep up our friendship. Life has a way of doing that. Love Pat
