Sandra Ann Jacobson, age 75, of Escanaba, passed away Friday evening, December 3, 2021 at her home in Escanaba.

Sandy was born December 2, 1946, in Escanaba the daughter of Elna “Dolly” (Ecklund) and Raymond Sundstrom. She grew up in Stonington and graduated from Rapid River High School, Class of 1965.

Sandy was united in marriage to Roland Jacobson on June 29, 1974. Together they spent 47 years raising their family and enjoying their many extended family and friends. Many family gatherings were held at their house throughout the years.

Sandy was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where she was very active throughout her years – church council, reader, altar guild, JOY book club, and custodian. Sandy practiced her faith fiercely but humbly. She had a deep love for her Lord and her church.

Sandy was a devoted wife and mother who spent her life raising her two children and supporting her husband in his many work endeavors. She kept a clean house and woe to those who would come and mess it up! She was always cooking and baking and just generally taking care of those she loved. One of her favorite roles was that of a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren. She was so proud of their accomplishments and loved them fiercely. Christmas shopping was a favorite activity and those close to her have fond memories of the piles of gifts hauled in each Christmas day for her grandkids and loved ones. She was known to be brutally honest but gave her opinions from love. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

In addition to her loving Husband, Roland, Sandy is survived by:
2 Daughters: Beth Jacobson of Gladstone, MI and Carrie (Kevin) Boudreau of Gladstone, MI,
Sisters: Marie (Bryan) Leonard, Susan (Dano) Sundstrom-Young
Brothers: John (Emmy) Sundstrom, Tom Sundstrom, Matt (Shelly) Sundstrom and Mark (Donna) Sundstrom

Grandchildren: Brett and Abbie Boudreau

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dolly Sundstrom

The family would like to give a special thanks to the UP Health Systems home care nurses and to Dr. Varoni and her nursing staff for the special care given to Sandy.

Family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Lon Hider at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A luncheon will follow at Christ the King Lutheran Church at 1230 North 18th Street Escanaba, MI. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Jacobson family.

    I terrible loss. I will always remember the days and evenings she and my mom and friends spent at our kitchen table drinking coffee and talking. Rest well, Sandy. May your Ancestors welcome you home, and may they be a source of comfort for your family in their time of sorrow.

    My deepest condolences to Roland, Carrie, Beth, and the whole family. Sandy was like a second mom to me growing up. I always felt welcome whenever I came over – which was almost everyday! Her chocolate chip cookies are the still the best I’ve ever had! Sending love and prayers to you all.

    Sandy will be missed all who knew her. Our deepest condolences to Roland, Beth, Carrie and the entire Sundstom family. I had the privilege of knowing Sandy and Roland over the past 40 years or so. They hosted an annual get together for colleagues from the behavioral health field.     Sandy was the best neighbor a person could ask for! She was sweet, fun & kind to all. We loved her wit, humor & candid nature. We enjoyed our time as parents raising our girls! She was a great baker and made the best chocolate chip cookies by far! My heart goes out to Roland, Carrie, Beth & family. May all the fond memories help you thru this sad and difficult time.     I knew her through Church. There was no part of the operation or finances or ritual traditions which she did not have knowledge and experience to share. From the laying of the foundation of the Church-to the fiftieth anniversary, to our visits to her kitchen, Sandra represented the best of Christian Faith and diligence. This loss is anguish to her family, especially Roland. Our Hope lies in Jesus Christ’s Incarnation and His Resurrection. God Bless and Keep You All.
