Ruth O. Wilson, age 96, of Rapid River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Michigan.
Ruth was born on April 1, 1928 in Jenera, Ohio, the daughter of Oliver and Alma (Schaller) Bormuth. She was raised on the family farm in Jenera and attended school there. She was married to the father of her children, Richard Wilson, and together they had 8 children. They later relocated their family to Stonington.
Ruth was a very talented quilt maker and looked forward every week to making quilts at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. She also loved to sew, needle point, embroider, and she also enjoyed card games and bingo. She was a talented baker and cook and cooked for several restaurants in the area over her lifetime. She cherished time spent with her family and she will be deeply missed.
Ruth is survived by her children Shirley (Keith) Olson, Jerome (Mary) Wilson, Jesse (Lois) Wilson, Joe Wilson, Sharon Hughes (Ken), Susan Wilson (Richie), and Jared (Ruthie) Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister Delores VonStein; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Alma; son James Wilson; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; and the father of her children Richard Wilson.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral Services will follow visiting hours beginning at 1:30 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River with Pastor Tommy Richter officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery in the spring.

My grandaughter would always ask to go see Ruth when she was here since she knew she would get cookies and a bag to take home she was a good neighbor and will be missed
