Rose M. Cilc, age 77, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at her home.
Rose was born on May 8, 1946, the daughter of Julius and Evelyn (Coty) Papineau. Rose was born and raised in Escanaba. Rose met her husband Joseph M. Cilc in 1971, and together they were united in marriage in 1973. Rose and Joe just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Rose was a very hard worker; in her lifetime she wore many hats. During her time living in Caseville, she had worked as a bartender, a cashier at Red Owl, a ward clerk and sterilization technician at Huron Memorial Hospital, and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Huron County Medical Care Facility. In 1999, Rose & Joe relocated from Caseville to Escanaba where Rose worked as a CNA for Pinecrest Medical Care Facility and later became a bus driver for Gladstone, Escanaba and Hannahville schools.
Rose enjoyed photography, waterfalls, lighthouses, antiques, thrifting, traveling, going for walks, feeding and watching birds and deer, and enjoying nature in general. Rose loved oldies music, like Elvis, the Beach Boys, the Mama’s and the Papa’s, and the Four Seasons. She also enjoyedwatching professional ice skating, Lifetime Movies, and 60 Minutes. Rose liked to travel and had visited Germany, the Niagara Falls and Papineauville, Canada, celebrated Mardi Gras in Louisiana, and vacationed in sunny Florida. She was a member of the U.P. Steam and Gas Association and was very much an animal lover, especially dogs.
Rose is survived by her husband, Joe, children Audra (Bob) Hawkins, Brenda Cilc, Joe Cilc II, Cherlyn Sinn, Nadine Sinn, Margeaux (Khayam) Masud, and 11 grandchildren as well as many beloved pets.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Wendy (Victor) Sinn.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 1 PM to 4 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Services honoring Rose will begin at 4 PM with Pastor Tim Haugen officiating.
