Robert Victor Mankiewicz, age 66, of Escanaba, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born December 7, 1948 in Escanaba, the son of Victor and Lorraine (Lange) Mankiewicz. He was raised in Rock and graduated from Rock High School. Following graduation, Bob gained employment at Harnischfeger Corporation where he was employed for sixteen years. He was united in marriage to Ann Martin on August 21, 1980 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins. Bob and Ann made their home and raised their family in Rock. Bob was employed at Northern Land and Lumber Company for several years as well. He also was a farmhand for TJJ VanDamme Farms until he retired in 2010. Throughout his life, Bob worked and volunteered at the U.P. State fair Poultry Barn. He loved raising a variety of poultry including; geese, chickens, ducks, guinea hens, and pheasants. Bob was a wonderful person who I had gotten to know at U.P. State Fair. I am proud to have had him work in our Poultry and Rabbit Barn. He was our best worker and he was devoted to the birds. We will miss him at the fair as he was one of our family.
