Robert G. Jozaitis

Resided in Escanaba, MI
Died January 12, 2022

Robert G. Jozaitis, age 84, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Fond du Lac, WI.

Robert was born April 28, 1937, in Ingalls, MI the son of Walter Sr., and Bernice (Marvin) Jozaitis. He graduated from Menominee High School in 1955 and served in the Army Reserves in the early 1960s.

Self-employed throughout his life, he worked with his brothers and family before branching out on his own in the oil distribution business. This led him to a 50 year role in the passenger transportation industry. First, with a local route service in the Menominee and Marinette area he expanded to charter and tour services that brought thousands of people to all parts of the country and Canada. Through the years he had locations in Michigan, Nebraska, Florida and Wisconsin. Gold Star Coaches & Charter and Gold Star Tours is now a second generation family business that continues to serve the communities and travelers of Upper Michigan and Eastern Wisconsin from its locations in Fond du Lac, WI, Escanaba and Iron Mountain, MI.

From playing football and basketball in his youth to becoming an accomplished bowler, and his continued support and promotion of local athletics, the sports page was his first read. His favorite shared memories were those of attending the Ice Bowl, the first two Super Bowls and NASCAR races.

Robert was a car enthusiast and collector, enjoyed taking a chance on his favorite slot machines and looked forward to going to Florida for the winter. Never shy to share his opinion about anything, he was an advocate for the underdog. His generosity and ability to get a laugh will be missed by many.

He is survived by:
Life Partner: Evelyn Jones Hannon of Fond du Lac, WI
Daughter: Jane (Chris Carr) Jozaitis of Green Bay, WI
Son: Jared (Tammy Nelson) Fond du Lac, WI
2 Grandsons: Blaine Massio and Brace Massio
And his red 65 T-Bird convertible

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Bernice; brothers, Richard and Walter Jr.; sister, Betty Jozaitis.

The Eskymo Fan Club sends it’s sincere condolences to Bob’s family and friends. Bob was a huge supporter of athletics and a kind and generous man in his support of athletes. We will miss him but will always remember him with a smile. God Speed Bob…

Loved this old coot. He was a character, larger than life. He was my favorite client at the law firm I worked at. He always made me smile. He will be missed.

Lord Jesus Christ; thank you for the life and times of Bob Jozaitis – for the personal and investment risks he took in a business that provided employment opportunity for many over his tenure. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Kindest regards to family and friends who have heavy hearts and are in great sadness.

Be safe. Be blest. Be at peace. Be in Joyful anticipation.

Dear Jared, Jane, Blaine, Brace and Evelyn,
We send our condolences to you at this difficult time. We just learned of Bob’s passing and are thinking of you. We can never forget the things he did while married to Margene, Brian’s Sister. Like the ride down HWY M35, in a ’61 Red Corvette at a speed we both will never forget with the top down!! And without his generosity, family would not have attended the first 2 Super Bowls and the Ice Bowl. Also, we were able to go to the Races, at the Milwaukee Mile and Elkhart Lake as well. Bud remembers the many hours Bob played catch with him on the Boulevard when he was in High School. It was then that he was a huge fan of Jim Brown, of the Cleveland Browns. He was a hard worker putting everything he had into the business he now turns over to the second generation. We are sure he will be missed by many. We had not seen Bob for many years but know he left a lasting impact on many. RIP Bob.

Sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Truly enjoyed having conversations with him while traveling with Gold Star. Our sympathies and prayers are with the family at this sad times. Bob is probably wheelin’ and dealin’ and getting the best deal, wasting no time. Such a nice man.

I have known and worked for Gold Star for 10 years and Bob will be missed. He always had an opinion and let you know. He had a kind heart. Our condolences to the family.
