Robert F. Newhouse, age 91, of Escanaba, passed away early Thursday morning, August 14, 2014, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.
Bob was born January 24, 1923, in Escanaba, the son of Frank and Martha (Stewart) Newhouse. He was raised in Escanaba and was a graduate of Escanaba Senior High School. Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Army Air Force where he served during WWII. During his enlistment, Bob was united in marriage to the former Kathryn Willis, at All Saints Church in Gladstone. Together the couple eventually built their home and raised their family in Escanaba. Additionally, Bob built their family cottage on Stoner Lake where they enjoyed many summers together with family and friends. Over the years, Bob was employed at Mead Paper Corporation, retiring as a foreman in 1978. He also owned and operated the Terrace Apartments and the Norway Pines Motel. After retirement, Bob and Kathryn spent more than 30 years wintering in Florida, always to return to their cottage during the summer months. He will be deeply missed.

Carly (Alex Nahrwold) Newhouse
Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Martha:

Graveside services for Bob will be conducted privately at the convenience of the Newhouse family. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Newhouse family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the All Saints Church window fund. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County.

Bob and Kay will always be considered our “adopted grandparents!” They were always very kind to our family, and have been good friends to my parents for more than 30 years. I know that Bob will be truly missed, and pray for strength and healing for the family at this difficult time! We love you, Kay!
