Robert (Bob) E. Danner, age 88, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone.

Bob was born December 2, 1931 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of George and Luella (Knott) Danner. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1949. Bob went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Bob was a salesman and worked mainly for Sinclair Oil Corporation and the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). On June 1, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to his loving wife, Nancy (Hoffman), and together they shared 64 years of wonderful memories. After raising their family in Hoffman Estates, IL, Bob and Nancy retired to Escanaba where they resided for many years.

Along with his loving wife, Bob is survived by his children: Lisa (Mike) Takash of Marquette, MI; Bob (Cathy) Danner of Elgin, IL; Brad Danner of Gladstone, MI; Scott (Vickie) Danner of Gladstone, MI; and Laura (Dana) Mills Danner, of Lakemoor, IL. He is also survived by numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Luella (Knott) Danner, brother George Danner, sister Betty Kawa, and his twin brother Leo Danner.

If you would like to make a memorial donation in Bob’s honor, please do so to the American Legion (Gladstone Post 71).

Private services honoring Bob will be held at the convenience of the family.

    To Nancy and all the Danner children: so saddened by Bob no longer being with us. He fought a great fight with cancer and was an inspiration to so many people. Have missed seeing you but will forever be touched by having known you all. God bless you all in this time of being with out Bob.

    Nancy, sad to read of Bob’s death. Always remember him as a friendly good looking guy. Great personality. Beautiful smile. Have lots of pictures of him from a young boy and great Navy photos. I am his cousin, our dad’s were brothers. Bob used to stop at our home to visit.

    Nancy and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Bob was such a wonderful next door neighbor over the years. He was so thoughtful and always helped out when he could, cutting the hedges, sealing the tree after cutting and encouraging Murray after his TIA episode. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Dear Nancy and family, I am so sorry to hear about Bobs passing. I will miss his kind words and gentleness. He was always so friendly to me and my mother Laura at Lakeview. He has touched my heart my forever. R.I.P Bob.
