Richard D. Feathers, Sr. the son of the late Arlene Williams went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 15, 2024.
Richard was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. As a child Richard, also known as Birdie, was a very active boy who was always up to something. Richard was a Boy Scout, attended Awana, collector of coins, and played just about every sport one could imagine. Richard’s passion was hunting and fishing; we always knew when he’d be coming home based on opening days of hunting and fishing. Richard was extremely intelligent and was once the youngest prosthetics apprentice in Wisconsin at the age of 17. He continued working for over 20 years in prosthetics and his patients loved him. He was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa (LTBB) and loved learning the native ways of life.
Richard leaves behind many loved ones who will miss him terribly: daughter Kelly Jelinek (Nate) from Escanaba; sons Richard Feathers, Jr from Escanaba and Marty Feathers from Stephenson; four grandsons Fletcher, Ricky III, Benjamin and Ryker; sisters Judy (Anthony) Mears from Ohio, Becky (James) Feathers-Bajewski from Rapid River, MI, and brother, Arlen Williams from Escanaba; his niece and nephews whom he loved dearly: David Mears, Stephanie Janda, Tyler Feathers, Matthew Mears, and Mark Mears.
Richard also leaves behind Aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his late mother, grandparents Doris and Earl Clabots, aunts Judy Feathers and Brenda Clabots, and his beloved cousins Brent Feathers, Greg Feathers, Kim Feathers, and Marty Clabots.
We would also like to acknowledge two special people in Richard’s life: his ex-wife and life-long friend, Cathy Jelinek, and Dusty Stumpf who was not only Richards dear friend but also his care taker.
We also want to thank the nursing staff from OSF Nursingstaff, specifically Jen Carter and Brittany Kipp.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM. A luncheon will follow at the Gladstone American Legion.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
