Rene Anthony Marcoe, age 77, of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, OCtober 8, 2014 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Rene was born September 18, 1937 in Escanaba, the son of Noah Sr. and Evelyn (LeDuc) Marcoe. On August 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Joanne Roberts at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. Together Joanne and Rene made their home and raised their family in Soo Hill. They enjoyed traveling and camping together and with family and friends. Rene was also an Amatuer Radio Enthusiast (W8LSZ) and had a passion for electronics and computers. He was employed for many years and retired from the Mead Paper Company but had work experiences in many different areas while he supported his young family including being a projectionist at the Delft and Michigan Theatres, a repairman at Merrier Music, and also worked at Anthony and Company.

Rene is survived by two sons, Jeffery (Karen) Marcoe of Seattle, WA and Dr. Gregory (Gail) Marcoe of Midland, MI; six grandchildren, Matthew and Luke of Seattle, WA and Jessica, Jeffery, John and Julianne of Midland, MI; one sister, Margaret (Fred) Engdahl of Escanaba and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brothers, Noah Marcoe Jr. and James Marcoe and his sisters, Mary Purzol and Georgianna Stern.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 14 from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Rene will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance or the Delta Animal Shelter.
