Rebecca Phalen, age 52, of Rapid River passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Aurora Baycare Medical Facility in Green Bay.

 

Becky was born October 19, 1970, in Escanaba, MI the daughter of Guy Donovan and Kristine (Menard) Gallant.

 

Becky attended Escanaba and Gladstone Area Schools. She graduated from Gladstone Class of 1989.

 

Becky worked in the banking industry for twenty years. She spent ten years employed in Iron Mountain and finished her last ten years at Baybank in Gladstone. Becky left banking to pursue her dream of owning a bar. For the last ten years Becky and her Husband, Dave have own and operated, The Kipling Bar.

 

Becky was united in marriage to David Phalen on July 20, 2002 in Gladstone. When Becky wasn’t busy at the bar, she enjoyed crocheting. She especially cherished her time spent with family. She also enjoyed riding their Harley.

 

In addition to her loving Husband, Becky is survived by:

 

Children: Lindsay (Anthony) Bauer of Gladstone, MI, David Phalen of Gladstone, MI, Jaycee (Dalton Blunt) Phalen of Escanaba, MI, Olivia Phalen of Rapid River, MI

 

2 Grandchildren: Lachlan and Eden and 1 Granddaughter on the way

 

Mother: Kristine Gallant

 

Siblings: Jennifer Brow, Sarah Wagner, Jim Donovan and Michael Kositzke

 

In addition, several step Brothers and Sisters.

 

Mother and Father-in-law: Cherie and David Phalen of Gladstone, MI

 

Brother-in-law: Robi Phalen of Marinette, WI

 

And several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins

 

 

Becky is preceded in death by her Father and infant Daughter, Melinda and

 

Sister-in-law, Dayna

 

 

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will take place at 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Celebration of Becky’s life will continue at The Kipling Bar. Becky will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Phalen family.

    When we heard of Becky’s illness we were heartbroken. She will be missed by so many. Always smiling and truly cared for everyone who walked into the business. She would often talk about her family, almost felt that we knew them. RIP our friend. kim & Kelly Havinga

    I had the privilege of knowing Becky through the bank and later helping her with bookkeeping. She was a sweet person and will be missed.

    Kris, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter. I remember her from when she attended grade school in Pine Ridge; she came over to our house for supper once, what a sweet little girl she was. I also enjoyed working with you at City Hall in Esky. My prayers are with you and your family.
