Uncle Ray always acted delighted when the lower Michigan LaFountain Family visited with him – giving hugs and showing a big grin. Jerry loved to retell to Uncle Ray his fishing and hunting stories as well as his escapades of his youth while growing up in the shadow of his 11 year older brother Ray during these visits.
I always loved knowing Uncle Ray at the gas station because I never knew anyone who owned a business let alone a gas station – I was sure he was rich! Uncle Ray would offer Dennis and I coca-cola and candy. Dennis and I too loved it that Uncle Ray always had a dog around-usually very tolerant of our attention and affection.
On behalf of my parents Jerry and Edna, my brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Susan, my husband Jim – we extend our heartfelt sympathy to you all as you celebrate the life of Uncle Ray.
Love and peace to you, Paula LaFountain

To All the Callahan Family Members:
We were saddened to learn of the death of Ray. He lived a long and worthy life. I have such fond memories of having coffee with him in the mornnga at Jack’s and learning many things about the greater Rapid River community. St. Charles Church will not be the same without him nor will the community of Rapid River. Please know of our presence in spirit and prayer during this difficult time. Know, too, of our fondest thoughts and best wishes to each of you.
