Perry “The Big Kahuna” St. Cyr, age 74, of Gladstone, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Perry was born August 10, 1946, in Escanaba, the son of Floyd and Vivian (Micheau) St. Cyr. He grew up in Cornell and worked as a welder for over 50 years. He was a 52 year member of the U.P. Plumber and PipeFitter Union 111. On August 13, 1982, Perry was united in Marriage to Deloris Hartman, and together they shared 24 years of wonderful memories.

He raced stock cars under number 21 from 1974 to 1976. Perry was a co-founder of U.P. Garden Tractor Pullers Incorporated, which was established in 1998. Perry also enjoyed spending a lot of his time in his garage working on various projects. Perry and Deloris owned a cabin in Wetmore, which they later moved into full time.

Perry is survived by daughter Rhonda (Jay Minarcin) Krieg and her children Tyler, Aaron, and Christopher, daughter Cherie (Jeff) Grieco and their children Briana and Cristina, daughter Leslie (Brett) Ackerman and their children Mackenzie, Lilly Mae, and Jack, step-son Kelsey (Jodi) Hendrickson and their children Ethan and Keegan. Perry is also survived by brothers and sisters Robert (Debbie) St. Cyr, Linda Chenier, Gayle (Gary) Rogers, Paul St. Cyr, Julie Vermote, Sandy (Duane) Beauchamp, Doug St. Cyr, Tom (Laurie) St. Cyr, Donna (Randy) Tryan, Gerard St. Cyr, and Nancy (Greg) Swan, great grandchildren Trez, Mason, Aslan, and Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews.

Perry is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Vivian, and his wife Deloris.

Family asks that everyone attending wear “Happy Attire” instead of black attire, and can feel free to incorporate his stock car/tractor number 21.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services honoring Perry will follow visitation at 2:00 PM with Rev. Father Jamie Ziminski Officiating. Perry will be laid to rest in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
