Paula Chenier

Paula Jean Chenier, age 67, of Lincoln Park, MI, formerly of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Henry Ford Rehabilitation Center in Wyandotte, MI.

Paula was born April 15, 1948 in Escanaba, the daughter of Clinton and Dolores (Vandanaker) Marenger. She graduated from the Gladstone High School in 1966 and from Bay de Noc Community College in 1968, receiving her LPN degree. On September 7, 1968, Paula was united in marriage to Donald Chenier at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. Paula and her children spent many of their early years moving around the East Coast and Midwest accompanying Donald from job site to job site. Paula also worked at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba and various nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities in the Detroit area and had a license to be a heavy equipment operator. Paula was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a creative being who was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting.

Paula is survived by her husband, Donald of Lincoln Park, MI; two daughters, Jennifer Chenier Pirtle and Amy Chenier both of Wyandotte, MI; one son, Joe Baffi of Lincoln Park, MI; three grandchildren, Gunnar, Teaghan and Wyatt; two sisters, Kathy (John) Brubaker of Lancaster, PA and Vicki (Mike) Gobert of Flat Rock; three brothersd, Dan (Pauline) Marenger of Flat Rock, Van (Chele) Marenger of Cornell and Chris Marenger of Flat Rock and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Erik Gobert and a close family friend, Phil Spencer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 12 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Darin Kelsey officiating. Paula will be laid to rest in the Escanaba Township Cemetery.
