How very saddened we are to hear of Oliver’s passing. When we were boys together, I learned a lot about how to look at people with disabilities. Oliver was a very positive influence on my life in this regard from then on. Oliver faced and overcame so many adversities in his life that even Job would look up to him.He is at peace with the Lord. I heard so many good things about Oliver from my husband Patrick down through the years. It was wonderful to have had the privilege to finally meet this amazing man this past summer. Indeed, all that was said of Oliver was true. Dear Oliver, may you now take your long awaited rest in the arms of our Lord. Your old friend Pat and new friend Marlene

I was in Oliver’s graduating class. He was very special to everyone. Even though he had great difficulty doing things, it never stopped him from trying. He had an amazing sense of humor, and was always the first to laugh at himself when he would take a tumble on the playground. What I remember most is, his hitching rides up the stairs on the backs of the high school boys. Anyone who was able would stop and piggy back him to his next class. I’m sure he will be missed my many.My thoughts and prayers are with him.

Oliver always had such a positive attitude towards life, and we will always remember our visits with him when he lived in Rapid River and belonged to St. Charles Church.

It is hard to believe that our friend Oliver will no longer be here to call us on our birthdays and give us all his unique and strong opinions. We will miss the compassionate, loving and giving person that he was. There is one individual who still doesn’t and will probably never understand this loss and that is REXY 5. Oliver’s love and devotion to Rexy was unbeleivable!!! We also want to recognize3 Oralee for her many years of love, friendship and care that she gave to Oliver. He truly loved her and will always be there smiling down on us all. For such a small person – Oliver was a big man and a big influence in many of our lives!! We thank God everyday for giving us the privelege of calling Oliver our friend!

I was a roommate with Oliver at Michigan Tech. We were renting the first floor of a house in Hancock, Michigan along with another student -Terry. Although a year later, Oliver dropped out of Michigan Tech. along with Terry, I was alone and could not afford the rent by myself so I had to move to a different location. During the year, Terry and I would cook for Oliver and whatever he needs us, we would help him. We had fun and enjoyed each others company. I am from Hawaii, and I had an LP album of children’s story in Hawaiian pigeon English [Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the bean stalk, 3 little pigs, etc.]. I remember how Oliver would laugh and laugh because of the broken English in the children’s story. I missed those times and Oliver.
