Norma Virginia Jarvis, age 104, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, February 23, 2024 at U.P. Health Systems Hospital in Marquette.

When she was 2 ½, her mother passed away and she came to Gladstone to live with her aunt and uncle, Emily and William Budzis. Emily was her father’s sister. She attended All Saints Parochial School through 8th grade and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1937.
Norma married Paul Jarvis on March 31, 1941. They lived in Ishpeming, MI for four years and then moved to Gladstone where they resided the remainder of their lives. They spent many happy years traveling and visiting family.

She was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, Daughters of Isabella, American Legion Auxiliary, All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, and the Gladstone Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards and attending birthday dinners. She was a charter member of St. Vincent de Paul of Gladstone and volunteered there for 20 years. Norma loved going to the casino, participating in football pools, scratching off lottery tickets, and playing cards and bingo with friends. She especially loved visits from family and friends. She never forgot a birthday or Christmas for any member of her family. Norma had the honor of being the Grand Marshal in the Gladstone 4th of July parade in 2023. It was a special day for her and her family, and will be a cherished memory.
Survivors include: daughters Virginia Jarvis of Gladstone, Bette (Mike) DeMars of Escanaba, and Jean (John) Belanger of Gladstone; sons Peter (Diana) Jarvis of Orange, CA and Paul Jarvis of Rapid River; son-in-law Mike Gallagher of Green Bay, WI; former daughter-in-law Sandra “Sass” Schramm; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
