Norbert “Joe” Berg of Escanaba passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Hospital. He was born on September 15, 1939 in Alpha, son of Bertil Berg and Sophie Ball Berg.

Joe was a 1957 Graduate from Iron River High School. On December 4, 1965 he married Rolanda “Lannie” Berg and together they had two sons.

Although recently retired, he spent his entire career as an Estimator, Purchasing Agent and Project Manager for numerous Contractors and Engineers throughout the Upper Peninsula.

He also sat on the City of Stambaugh Board and ran for office and was elected as the Mayor of Stambaugh for a period of time.

Joe enjoyed the Great Outdoors, especially finding a piece of paradise when he purchased 40 acres and built “The Dam Camp” where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, and spending the warm nights on the deck, admiring all of natures gifts. Above all else, he loved his family with all he had. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Joe is survived by his wife, Lannie, his children, Scott (Brenda) Berg of Dewitt and Todd Berg of Rapid River, his granddaughter, Lindsey (Travis) Clark of Holt, his brother, Edward (Marge) Simbob of Quinnesec, his sister, Sharon (Mike) Feldhausen of Iron Mountain, and his sisterinlaw, Marlene Simbob of Crystal Falls.
