Muriel “Sissy” “Mema” Bruntjens, age 99, of Gladstone passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Muriel was born April 12, 1923 in Gladstone, the daughter of Otto and Lillie (Johnson) Dahn. She was raised in Gladstone and graduated from the Gladstone High School. She was united in marriage to Maurice “Morris” Bruntjens on October 29, 1949 in Gladstone. Muriel was known as “Sissy” or “Mema” to all. Spending time with her family was very important to her and she loved getting together, family parties and watching her grandchildren play baseball and race Sprint Cars. She also enjoyed traveling and attended the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.
Muriel is survived by her children, Randy Bruntjens, Dayna (Wendy) Bruntjens and Darlinda Bruntjens, all of Gladstone. Her grandchildren: Jimmy Groleau, Bridget (Jim) Morrison, Randy (Lauren) Bruntjens, Chad (Stephanie) Bruntjens, Jeff (Beckie) Bruntjens, Jessie (Paul) Nelson, Holly (Dave) Holmstrom, David (Amanda) Jolly, Lacie (Alex) Lopez and Bradley (Candy) Branstrom. 21 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris, her parents, her daughter, Carlene Groleau, great grandson, Christian Groleau, great grandchild, Sammie Jolly and siblings, Bill, Vernon, Dayton, Courtney, Garland, Maurine “Tina” Dahn and Mona Neurohr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Morrison officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Mead Rod and Gun Club. Muriel will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.
