Milton R. Broeders, age 83, of Rock, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at his home.

Milton was born September 11, 1936 in Foster City, MI, the son of Gerard and Gertrude (Taucher) Broeders.

He moved to Gladstone in his teenage years when his Father bought the Spot Tavern. In the 1950’s Milton served as a Merchant Marine and sailed the Great Lakes. He worked many years in construction for various companies. He was an underwater diver for a few of those construction companies.

Milton was united in marriage to Virginia Williams-Bale on October 23, 1986 in Marquette.

Milton enjoyed hunting, wood working, fishing, and being with his friends. A highlight in Milton’s life was the fishing and hunting trips to Canada and Alaska that he took with his friends. He especially liked listening to country music. Virginia and Milton enjoyed going to car shows all over Michigan together with friends. At one time he had 4 antique cars.

In addition to his loving wife of 39 years, Virginia Broeders, Milton is survived by:
2 Children: Erika (Elizabeth) Ramirez of Desert Hot Springs, CA
John Broeders of Gladstone, MI
2 Step Children: Robert M. Bale of Ovid, MI
Susan M. Bale of Chesaning, MI
4 Brothers: Ernest Broeders of Ford River, MI
Ted (Nancy) Broeders of Escanaba, MI
Donald Broeders of Perkins, MI
John (Dawn) Broeders of Sun City, AZ
5 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren, and 1 Step Great Grandchild.
Milton is also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

In addition to his Parents, Milton is preceded in death by:
1 Son: Milton Broeders
4 Brothers: Gerard, Leo, Nick, amd Leroy.
2 Sisters: Pearl and Alida.
And 2 Half Sisters: Johanna Lucas and Marguerite Anderson.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from Noon until 2:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Joseph V. Augustine officiating. A luncheon will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Perkins. Milton will be laid to rest in Perkins Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Broeders family.

    Our very protective grizzly bear of a grandfather, we will miss you forever. Thank you for being the best grandpa. We hope you are busy with Milty and all of your buddies; catching up on all of the things you love to do. We love you!

    I’ve known Virginia and Milt for quite a few years! Milt was always pleasant to talk to. I’m so sorry to hear that he passed away. Our deepest sympathy to Virginia and all the family.

    Milt always had butterfinger candy bars in a drawer when I visited. He was a good friend and I will miss him.

    Virginia-we are sorry for your loss. Milt always had a quick laugh and was willing to share life advice. We knew we always had a place to stay when we come north. We will keep you and the kids in our prayers.

    We were so saddened to hear that Milton has passed away. Gordon remembers him as such a kind and pleasant man who always had time to chat when they met up. Our prayers go out to Virginia and family as they say goodbye to a wonderful man.

    Virginia and family. My thoughts are with you today and will remain throughout the days to com. My dad will be happy to shake his old buddy’s hand again. What a pair they were!!!!

    Milton was such a good buddy with my dad and always had great memories to share. He was one of a kind and will be missed. Thoughts and prayers for the family.

    I do not even know how to tell you all how sorry I am about the loss of Milt. My heart is broken for you all. I love you all Ginny, Suzie, and Rob, may God give you comfort in this time.

    So sorry for the families loss. Ginny and Milton came down to the Chesaning area to visit all the time. Our thought and prayers are with them all.

    You sure will be missed Milton. Such a friendly yet matter of fact kind of guy. We so appreciated your insight and advice over the years. Thank you for that. We never met your son Milton but we knew him in spirit as you shared your memories of him with us often. There was never a visit with us that his name was not mentioned. Your heart ache over that loss was palpable and you suffered from that loss until your dying day. When we met you and Ginny it felt like we clicked. You sure got one heck of a woman when you found Virginia. I’m happy you had her keeping you on check. Enjoy the heavens Milton. With much love, Dennis and Dhannon
