Michael “Mike” L. Maskart, age 84, of Gladstone passed away on October 16, 2021 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Mike was born November 4, 1936 in Gladstone, the son of Alfonze and Florence (Murray) Maskart. He was raised in Gladstone and graduated from the Gladstone High School. Following high school he served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Mike was united in marriage to Rita Richer on January 7, 1961 at the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. They made their home in Gladstone where they raised their 3 sons. Mike was electrician for many years at Mead Paper, retiring in 1996, at which time Mike and Rita built their home on the lake in Stonington. He loved deer hunting at the family camp in Rock with his boys.

Mike is survived by his sons, Greg Maskart of Menominee, Richard (Amy) Maskart of New Jersey and Michael Maskart of Gladstone; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita, his parents and his brother, Larry.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will presented at 10:45 AM by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. Mike will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Francis Hospital, Lakeview Assisted Living and the Skradski Funeral Home for the care and compassion.

    Always loved the times spent at Mike and Rita’s camp at Stonington for fun, laughter, games and food. He will be missed but he is by Rita’s side now, eternally.
