I was a freshman in High School when Mike was a senior. I remember Mike as a very good person and a hell of a football player. I am very sorry to hear of your loss.

God bless “pops”! This is a man who fought for this country and actually lost a limb in doing so. In all the time I knew this man, he never complained that he was owed anything. Infact, I believe he’d do it all again for his country if he had to. Not only a loving husband, father and grandfather….but, an awesome person to anyone he met. I should know, if he was as loving to others as he was to me, that’s a special person!
Rest in peace “S.O.S.” ..and just for the record, Ray Nitschke wouldn’t have had a job if you hadn’t been injured at war!! NO WAY MAC!

Dear Pauline,
We were saddened to read in the Escanaba Paper about Mike’s passing. We wish to extend our condolences to you and your family. We enjoyed our visits with you at the Class Reunions and missed you at the last reunion. We still have not figured out the connection with Mike’s family and Chuck’s family. Maybe someone will know who visits you. Chuck is the son of Silas Edwin McMartin. His Grandfather was also Silas McMartin.
Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this painful time.
Sincerely, Pat McMartin

I would like to send my deepest sympathies in the loss of your husband and father/grandfather. I remember him very fondly from my childhood while visiting with my mom. With just losing my own father, I know how you are feeling and my heart aches with you. As we all know memories are so very precious, hang on to them dearly.

To the McMartin family:
I just heard the news of Micheal’s passing and and extremely sorry to hear that such a terrific person is gone. I will always remember growing up around the entire family and cherish the thoughts of how you were so kind and giving to all that came in contact with you. I wish that I could come up to the service and see you all even though it perhaps wouldn’t be the best time but I want you all to know that I am deeply saddened and pray for only the best for your families and friends.
God bless you all.

Paula, My deepest condolences to you and your family. Even when it’s expected; even when it’s a blessing, it’s a very sad loss to lose a parent. I’m very sorry. Please call me when things settle down. Take care of yourself.

I am sorry to read about your father in the Janesville Gazette. Even though I was in Clinton for only three years I have thouhgt often about your family and wondering where everyone is located. I must say that your father was such a great supporter for all athlectics. After all these years coaching, I now appreciate his support and understanding of a young coach just starting out. He had a very positive impression on me. I am sorry for your loss.
