Michael J. Beauchamp, age 66, of Gladstone, passed away Thursday evening, August 30, 2012, at the Iron Mountain V.A. Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mike was born August 19, 1946, in Escanaba, the son of Henry and Margurette (Caswell) Beauchamp. He was raised in Perkins and was a 1964 graduate of the Perkins High School . In September of 1967, Mike was drafted into the United States Army, to serve his country, during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, Mike received medals of accommodation which included, the National Defense Service Medal , Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1969, Mike returned home to Rapid River where he worked construction before gaining a position with Anderson Lumber as a delivery driver. He eventually went to work for Micheau Trucking, in Iron Mountain, and later for D& S Trucking before retiring due to an auto accident on January 14, 1985. Mike was a life time member of the Escanaba VFW Post #2998. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crafting, leatherwork, playing cards and playing cribbage. Mike loved the outdoors and enjoyed feeding the deer and watching the turkeys in his yard.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers in law, 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Mike’s family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 3:00PM to 4:45PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone . Military rites will follow visitation, at 4:45PM, by the Delta County Veteran’s Council. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Michael J. Beauchamp will follow military rites, at 5:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone , with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral services at the All Saints Church Parish Hall. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting Mike’s family with arrangements.
