Melton R. Demerse, 93, of Escanaba passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Melton was born November 23, 1929 in Schaffer, Michigan the son of Edward and Valeria (Dault) Demerse Sr. He was united in marriage to Josephine Casey in 1950. He worked as a carpenter for much of his life and his passion was building wooden model airplanes. Many of his models are on display at the Delta County Airport.
Melton is survived by his son, Kevin (Julie) Demerse of Modesto, CA, his daughter, Kim Demarse of Escanaba; grandchildren, Brian (Brandy) Dubord, Mark Dubord, Justin (Samantha) Demerse and Ryan Demerse, great grandchildren, Taylor (Matt) LaVigne, Matt Dubord, Madison (Hunter) Fix, Brendon (Ally) Dubord, Austin Dubord and Katelyn Dubord, a great-great grandson, Asher Dubord and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, his parents, his brother, Edward (Marianne) Demerse Jr., his sister, Marilyn (George) Labre and two nephews, Bob and Jim Demerse.
Private services for Melton will be held at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
The family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
