Mary Rose Boyer, age 93, of 7884 Washington Street, Rapid River, passed away Sunday morning October 5, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a brief illness.
Mary was born February 9, 1921 in Gladstone the daughter of William Nick and Theresa (Sirola) Srock. She was raised in Gladstone where she attended the All Saints Catholic School. Mary was united in marriage to Sam Boyer on August 5, 1939 in Green Bay, WI. They made their home in Rapid River where they raised their four children. Mary was a devoted mother to her children and she spent a majority of her life taking care of her daughter Sandra. For the past 2 years she had resided at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.
Mary enjoyed the many family picnics at the Dutch Mill in Rapid River where she played a good game of Horseshoes. She used to be an avid hunter looking forward to that time spent in the woods with her Husband Sam. Mary loved watching her children and grandchildren when they were involved in sports. She also enjoyed playing cards and password with her family and friends. Mary was a beautiful person inside and out and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Daughter: Judy (James) Hebert of Gladstone
Sister: Tillie (Roy) VanEffen of Gladstone
7 grandchildren: Cherie (Jerry) Drossard, Christine (Harley Bingham) Mackie, Courtney (Angela) Mackie, Lori (Rich) Tucker, Steve (Theresa) Boyer, Jason Fruen and Sam Boyer.
11 step-grandchildren: James Jr., Cheryl, Marvin, Kristine, Michael, Patty, Marcus, Jerry, Connie, Jamie and Pam.
13 great grandchildren, 12 great step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Sam on December 27, 2001, daughter, Sandra in 2003, brothers, Rudy and Stanley Srock and sister, Francis Reed and great grandson, Dwayne (DJ) Feathers.
