Mary Jo Johnson, age 57, of Escanaba, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 9, 2013, at the Marquette General Hospital.

Mary Jo was born April 22, 1956, in Escanaba, the daughter of Lawrence and Barbara (Garvey) Johnson. She was raised in Gladstone and attended the Gladstone schools. Throughout her life, Mary Jo was employed, in the dietary department, at Christian Park Health Care Facility in Escanaba. In addition, she volunteered many hours of her time as a foster grandparent at Holy Name School. Mary Jo enjoyed crocheting, walking and spending time with her loving grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Son: Dean (Sarah) Godfrey of Gladstone, MI
Brothers: Raymond (Martha) Johnson of Grayslake, IL
Mike Johnson of California
Grandchildren: Kayla, Lindsey, and Lucas Godfrey
Nephew: Ron Ketcham of Gladstone, MI
Niece: Lisa Ketcham of Gladstone, MI
Also surviving are additional nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    I will miss you my friend. you are at peace now.Dean, know that your mom loved you very much. Sometimes we dont say I LOVE YOU. OFTEN ENOUGH. TAKE. the time. life is short. I lo very you and Sarah.you have each other to hold and get through these hard times. Just know I am here if you need me.

    My condolences to you during this difficult time.
    MJ and I were close in the late 80’s early 90’s before we moved to Rapid River. She babysat for Lace, cooked, helped in all kinds ways to make “things” better without expecting a thing.
    During my Mom’s stay at Christian Park a few years back, my mom and MJ would sneak a puff and she would bring my Mom snacks watched out over her while she rehabbed.
    Always a special place in my heart for this kindhearted woman.

    Mary Jo lived upstairs from me. She was willing to help when she could. Mary Jo was a good neighbor.
