Mary C. Bratonia, 68, of Gladstone, passed away Sunday morning, June 25. 2017 at the Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, WI following a short illness with Leukemia.
Mary was born February 27, 1949 in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Bernice (Mileski) DeMars. She was raised in Wells, MI where she attended St. Thomas Catholic Elementary School and Holy Name Catholic High School, graduating in 1967. Following graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Escanaba. She later worked for Dr.’s George and Mike Kelly Dental Office’s as a receptionist and dental assistant. She loved flowers and later managed the Wickert Floral Shop in Gladstone for many years until her retirement in 2010.
Mary was united in marriage to Dennis Bratonia on August 30, 1969 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. They returned to Gladstone in 1972 where they raised their two children. Mary was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church where she served on the funeral luncheon committee for many years. She also did volunteer work for the St. Vincent De Paul Store in Gladstone and The Lady of the Lake soup kitchen in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Her hobbies included mini weekend shopping trips with “the girls”, occasional visits to the casino, enjoying nature and working in her many flower gardens. For the past 7 years, Dennis and Mary enjoyed their retirement spending the winters in Arizona. She also enjoyed viewing Pinterest on her iPad and loved her morning coffee with the girls at McDonald’s. Above all, Mary was proud of her family, cherishing ever moment with them. She will be greatly missed.

Mason and Jackson Bratonia of DePere, Wisconsin
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends, also survive.
In addition to her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Pete Boyce, father and mother-in-law, Albert and Margarette Bratonia, brothers-in-law, James and Francis Bratonia, Donald (Jack) LaFond and nephew Mark LaFond, preceded Mary in death.
Mary’s family will receive friends on Monday, July 3rd from 1:00 to 4:20 pm at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Vincentian prayers led by the ladies of St. Vincent DePaul will follow at 4:20 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:00 pm at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with the Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. Luncheon will follow in the All Saints Catholic Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.

Dear Dennis & Family, I’m truly sorry for your loss., I knew Mary for a short time, however she was a wonderful lady, I enjoyed talks with her and always gave her that hug in the morning when she was here in Green Bay staying at my place (Altrusa House) Dennis, be strong, That’s what she would want. When she told me the story of how you both met and being high school sweethearts, you could tell the love for you was like no other. She will be with you all looking down and watching over you!
