Mamadou “Dewey” Gabriel Richer, age 12, ran into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay due to the complications of Shaken Baby Syndrome. His loving parents were by his side.
Mamadou was known for his smile that could light up a room and make the day better for anyone he met. He loved Scooby Doo movies, fuzzy pj’s, music and especially his sister, Kenzie. Dewey leaves a legacy of teaching the people around him of God’s unfailing mercy and the value of human life. He was a student of the Learning Center in Escanaba until his family moved to Pulaski, Wisconsin where he attended Syble Hopp School in DePere.
Mamadou is survived by his parents, Joshua and Lindsay (Bell ) Richer; siblings, Mackenzie, Lil Miss and Joseph. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Tom and Janis Bell; his paternal grandparents, Dale and Donna Richer; his great grandmother, Hazel Sealander and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Ford River Community Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Robert Derheim officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Mamadou will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
The Richer family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.

To Mamadous family , I am deeply sorry for “Deweys” passing . I will always be grateful that you shared such an AMAZING boy with me at the Learning Center . Dewey greeted me daily off the bus with his beautiful smile , and throughout the day his smile lit up room four . God created these special children to teach us unconditional love , acceptance, strength thru difficulties , courage , and above all – appreciation of all life’s little blessings . Dewey taught these to us as the teacher God planned him to be . Now Dewey is back with God and playing freely with the other children from the Learning Center that God blessed us with . I am sorry for the pain you are going thru , but again , I thank you for sharing Dewey with me . I am truly blessed to have my life’s path shared with his .

Dear Lindsay & Family,
So sorry for your loss. First of all thank you for giving Dewey a loving home for his years before heaven. I remember seeing him only a few times, but his smile will always remain in my mind. I remember when you were going through the process of getting him–can’t remember if it was KidZone or subbing days, but how you never minded those long drives for the time you would get to spend with him. I am so glad God gave him to you as your son. I know your heart is probably aching for him, but one day you will be together again doing all those fun things!
