Madelyn R. Trekas, age 74, of Gladstone, passed away Monday evening, January 4, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Oneida, WI.

Madelyn was born September 30, 1946, in Escanaba, the daughter of Henry and Cecile (Groleau) Ross. She was raised in Gladstone and attended the Gladstone schools. On July 3, 1993, Madelyn was united in marriage to Ronald Trekas and together they resided and spent many wonderful years together in Gladstone.

Throughout her life, Madelyn worked for the Delta County Alliance Against Violence and Abuse, Alpine Reality and Joseph’s Grocery Store (Formerly Larry’s Grocery Store). Madelyn eventually gained employment as a Dispatcher for Gladstone Public Safety Department until her retirement.

Her hobbies included canning, gardening, knitting, fishing and camping with her husband Ron, spending time with her family and in later years, playing Smear at the Rapid River Lions Club. Madelyn was also an active member at New Horizons Church where she was a member of the church choir. She also volunteered many hours of her time for Relay for Life and served as a Reading Buddy in Gladstone.

In addition to her loving husband Ron, Madelyn is survived by:
Children: Allen Cartwright, Raymond Cartwright,
Michelle (Vince) McNamee and Diane (Bob Thompson) Dahlquist

Step-children: Allyson (Paul) Dahlgren, LeeAnn Trekas and Ronald Trekas

Brothers: Harold (Jean) Ross and Jim (Stephanie) Ross
Sisters: Emily (Milton) Wengert, Elaine (Kenneth) DeMars
and Audrey Reese
Madelyn is further survived by her 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cecile:
Brothers: Willard, Bobby and Bill Ross
Sisters: Jane Quinn, Bea Donnati and Louise Anderson

Family will receive friends on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 11:30AM to 1:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services, to celebrate the life of Madelyn Trekas, will follow visiting hours, at 1:00PM, with Pastor Louis Hague officiating. Madelyn will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery following funeral services. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.

    Ron and family, so sorry to hear of Madelyn’s passing. We had many good times canning, baking, Relay for Life and picking raspberries. May she rest in peace.

    You will always remain near and dear in my heart. You were a wonderful and true best friend to my mom and our families spent many wonderful days sharing meals, games and laughs together.

    Very sorry to hear about Madelyn’s passing. I spent many years working with Madelyn and she was a truly wonderful lady with a great heart. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers.

    My Dear Friend Madelyn. I will miss you and the good times we had: playing cards, casino fun, making Christmas cookies, canning, picking blueberries and sneaking out for a cigarette!! Until we meet again, Love you, Bunny.
