Luther “Bill” Sischo

Bill Sischo, age 65, of Trenary passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Munising.
Bill was born December 17, 1946 in Escanaba, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Luella (Hoy) Sischo. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and is a Vietnam War Veteran, earning numerous medals and citations. He received a Master of Arts Degree from Northern Michigan University and worked as a speech pathologist for the State of Michigan for many years. Bill is longtime member of the Trenary United Methodist Church where he was united in marriage to Grace Cochran on August 5, 2006.

Bill is survived by his wife, Grace; his father, Raymond; his brother, Raymond Sischo of Marquette, his sister, Shirley Powelson of Gladstone, his brother, Bruce Sischo of the Philippines; numerous nieces and nephews and his step-daughter, Elaine (Mark) Reinke of Harrison, MI.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 6 at 10:00 AM at the Trenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra J. Kolder officiating. Committal services and Military Rites conducted by the Rapid River American Legion Walter C. Cole Post 301 will immeiately follow services in the Trenary Cemetery. A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall. The Sischo family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Gladstone.

    My condolences to Bill’s family. I worked with Bill in Newberry in the early ’80’s. I was traveling from Marquette and spent many nights having a burger and sharing s drink with Bill at his A-frame. Many good conversations. Bill is a very positive memory on my life.

    I am very sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. My memory of Bill was that he always was a very “nice guy” who never had a bad word to say about anyone.

    I am very sorry to hear about Bill’s passing away. He was a special friend and co-worker at the Newberry State Hospital. Bill was a very caring and wonderful person.
