Loretta Hasselbach

Loretta M. Royer Hasselbach, age 94, of the Christian Park Village in Escanaba (formerly of Gladstone) died Sunday evening October 5, 2008 at the Christian Park Village following a lengthy illness.
Loretta was born September 7, 1914 in Perkins the daughter of Clifford and Laura (Bunno) Morand. She was raised in Perkins and she attended the Rock Public Schools. Loretta was united in marriage to Clarence Royer on February 10, 1934 at the St. Joseph Church in Perkins and they made their home in Gladstone where they raised their 5 daughters. Together they owned and operated the Gladstone Fisheries, a well known wholesaler and retailer. Following their retirement they traveled the country. Clarence preceded her in death in 1972.

Loretta remarried Donald Hasselbach on July 31, 1982 and they resided in Gladstone. Donald died in 2001.

Loretta was an active member of All Saints Church in Gladstone where she belonged to the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Michigan State Home Extension and the Gladstone Senior Center. Her hobbies included playing cards, reading, baking, sewing and making clothes for her family and friends.
