Leonard “Butch” Schwartz, age 84, of Isabella passed away at his home on the lake on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
Butch and his wife, Patricia were married on July 7, 1962, one year after his service as a Sergeant of the 35th Engineering Division while stationed in Germany.
Many years were spent outside. Being outdoors was Butch’s calling. He worked for several years for the U.S Forest Service out of Rapid River. He took great pride in working on the beach and keeping the lawn in perfect shape.
Butch had recently found out that he was going to be a great grandfather in April. He was so happy and excited to hear the good news. Despite how difficult of a time he had getting around, he would not miss his grandson’s wedding.
Butch is survived by his wife, Patricia of Isabella and grandson, David (Meghan) Schwartz of Seymour, WI, brother-in-law, Pete Moore of Covington, MI and nephews, Andrew (Jenna), Jimmy (Mindy) Moore and John (Leighann) Moore all of Isabella and Paul Moore of Covington and Patrick (Jessica) Moore of Marquette.
He was preceded in death by his son, David and his parents, Lester and Dulcie Schwartz.
There will be a small and personal memorial held for Butch on the same sandy beaches that he’d spent so many years maintaining and raising both his son and grandson on.
The Schwartz family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
