Lenore graduated from Escanaba Area High School and subsequently married Richard F Vietzke on October 26th, 1957. Together they raised a family while living at a home on 6th Avenue in Escanaba. In retirement she moved with her husband to a home on the lake at Maywood Shores in Rapid River. It was in this home that Lenore was the happiest. She loved her garden and enjoyed preserving all of the food from it. She loved to fish with her husband and even hunted deer with him later in their time there. She later returned to Escanaba with her husband to live in a home on 36th Street. In her later years she enjoyed making her signature banana bread to give to her family when they visited.
Lenore treasured her friendships. She enjoyed a passing conversation with people when she was out and about. She adored children and quickly worked to befriend any child she encountered. Her greatest loves after her husband were her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She never wavered in putting their needs ahead of her own and never missed an opportunity to share how proud she was of all of them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Debra Vietzke, brothers, Raymond, William, John and Charles McCarthy and sisters, Joyce Cappaert, Dorothy Koschka, Lorraine Oaldon, and Marlene McCarthy.
Surviving in addition to her husband Richard (Dick) are her daughters Carol (Vietzke) Hill and her husband Bert; Mary (Vietzke) Fischer and her husband Willi, and Sandra (Sandy Vietzke) Andrew along with 2 granddaughters, Heidi Hill and Marla (Hill) Evans and husband Gary; and 3 grandsons Nolan Hill, Nicholas (Nick) Andrew and Benjamin (Ben) Andrew and one great grandson Cameron Evans. In addition, survivors include a brother James McCarthy.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Bellin Hospital, Froedtert Hospital and the staff of the Jack and Ingrid Meng Hospice Residence for their care and support in her last months.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 PM with Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating. Lenore will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

Thinking of all my family today as we celebrate the life of Aunt Lenore and Jim’s sister. Jim will always cherish his conversations and wonderful memories with his sister Lenore. His family means so very much to him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our whole family!
