Katherine Mary Gobert

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died December 20, 2019

Katherine Mary Gobert, age 87, of Gladstone, MI, passed away early friday morning, December 20, 2019 at her home in Gladstone.

Kay was born July 29, 1932 in Nahma, MI, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Turek) Sheedlo.
After graduation from Nahma High School in 1950, she went on to beauty school in Marquette and graduated in 1951. She went to work at the Ed Hurly Beauty Salon for three years before opening her own business at their family’s house. She operated Kays Beauty shop for the next 50+ years until in her early 80’s her health made it time to retire. On December 29, 1951 the former Katherine (Kay) Gobert married William (Bill) Gobert. He preceded her in death in 1984.
They raised two sons who have grown into strong hard working men who went on to have strong hard working children of their own.
Her most favorite things in her spare time were gardening, church at All Saints Parish, music both singing & playing piano, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking/baking and shopping at St. Vincent dePaul for great finds. She and her sister MaryAnn had recipes for the best “royal” cookies and apple struedel. These were shared with her boys and spouses and family on the holidays especially, but also when it was cool and baking made the house cozy for friends too. She was always looking out for the needs of others. She passed on her love of gardening with many flower beds outside the home and also inside with lily’s and violets. Plants were shared with her daughter-in-laws so they got help getting their own gardens started. She was a long time member of the church choir and Hearts of Praise Prayer Group, both of these about 30 years or more. Her spiritual gifts were abundant and she was a great example of being kind, humble and blessed by the Holy Spirit.
Kay is survived by:
2 Sons: Gary (Diane) Gobert of Gladstone, MI

5 Grandchildren: Nick (Maya) Gobert, Tori Bunno, Raymond Gobert, Shaylyn Gobert, and Matthew Gobert.
