Joyce M. Borden of Christian Park Village, Escanaba, formerly from Gladstone, passed away on December 28, 2014 at Christian Park Village.
Joyce was born on February 1, 1918 in Spalding, Michigan to Ernest T. and Mary (Brinn) Wilfong. Joyce graduated as Valedictorian from Powers/Spalding High School and from County Normal in Menominee, Michigan with a teaching degree. She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse on Neebish Island in the St. Mary

I will miss Aunt Joyce. Years ago she loaned me one of her dresses for an interview when I had forgotten to pack one. I always enjoyed listening to her stories.

Dear Borden Family,
Some of my fondest memories are of the times spent at your house in Gladstone. Aunt Joyce treated the invading Jawsons like her own kids. There could be no greater sign of acceptance. I will cherish these memories of her, your father and all of you forever. May you also find solace in the good memories.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend your mother’s memorial services because of our commitments today to Linda’s 94 year old mother and others.
