Josie A. Bacsik, age 82, of 8311 30th Road, Rapid River, MI. died Friday morning January 30, 2004at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers where she was a patient.
Josie was born May 7, 1921 in Rapid River, MI the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Berg) Vietzke. She was raised in Rapid River and was a 1939 graduate of Rapid River High School. She continued her education at Bay De Noc Community College and she received her degree in Human Services. She was united in marriage to Bert Bacsik in 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1979. She had worked as an office manager for Hupy Insurance Agency in Gladstone, the Jim Hall Agency in
Escanaba, and she retired from the Crum Forester Agency in Escanaba in 1979.
Josie was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River, the Escanaba D.A.V. Auxiliary and the Rapid River American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a Foster Grandmother. Survivors include:

2 Step-Grandchildren: David (Lucy) Jolly of Escanaba Timothy (Connie) Jolly of Clinton Twp., MI;
1 Great Grandchild: Christopher Bacsik of Hermansville, MI as well as numerous nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents and husband, Bert, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan.
Josie’s family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. Funeral services celebrating the life of Josie A. Bacsik will follow at 5:00 P.M. at Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephen Gauger officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Rapid River Cemetery.
