Joseph F. Decker, age 89, of 1401 North 23rd Street, Escanaba, died Tuesday morning March 27, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a brief illness.
Joseph was born May 8, 1917 in Manitowoc, WI the son of Antone and Ann (Krish) Decker.
Joe served his country in the US Army. He was stationed with the Tank Battalion 762 Army Division at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. He worked as a clerk in the PX.
Joe spent his entire working career as a car salesman in the Powers and Escanaba area, beginning his career in 1937 with Peninsula Motors and later Bracket Chevrolet, forming Decker/Kirschner Auto Sales prior to the war. After his honorable discharge, Joe continued selling automobiles culminating in 1965 with the prestigious National

Dear Joe Decker Family,
It is with our sincere condolence in the loss of your loved one, our friend and aquaintance, Joe Decker.
Joe was never without a smile upon his face. Always friendly no matter where you ran into him at. We all at one time or another purchased a vehicle from Joe. Sometimes more than once. He will be truely missed.
Please allow Brother Lord Jesus to embrace you with His devine knowing that Joe is not actually depart from you. Rather, he lives on within you, in your heart. Where you are, he is.

Would like to express my sympathy to the Decker children/grandchildren on the loss of their father/grandfather. Joe was very colorful and always had a story or joke to tell. I am so sorry for your lost. My memory of Joe goes back to when I was 16 and buying my first car. Joe sold me a white station wagon. Most people would think 16 and a station wagon but Joe knew I just had gotten married and wanted to fill it with babies. What was I thinking?
Your dad always had a “Hi how you doing” and a big big smile for everyone. I wonder if he’s having a good cigar in heaven!! If anyone could talk the big guy upstairs into allowing it, it would be your dad.

Every time I went to Decker-Koepp Auto, Joe was there to say “Good Morning, You looking for Mike??” Then, if I had to wait, he would reminisce about my Mom and living in Powers. He will be missed by many.
